Brazil animal protein leaders push integration to boost global markets

Representatives from Brazil's poultry, swine, cattle, dairy and fish sectors gathered at the International Animal Protein Fair (SIAVS 2026) in São Paulo to call for greater integration across the value chain. Panelists highlighted the country's competitive advantages – abundant natural resources, advanced technology, high production capacity and a strong sanitary reputation – and stressed the need to better communicate these strengths to win new overseas markets.

Ricardo Santin, president of the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA), said Brazil must reinforce its international image, pointing to more than 1.1 million km² of preserved land on private farms and pasture areas that can be used to increase productivity without deforestation. Laudemir Müller, agribusiness manager at ApexBrasil, added that the organized supply chain differentiates Brazil and builds trust with foreign buyers, enabling the country to meet domestic demand while expanding exports. Eduardo Lobo, president of the Brazilian Association of Fish Industry (ABIPESCA), noted current fish exports of about US$ 400 million and urged the sector to pursue new markets in the European Union and Asia.

The speakers agreed that coordinated communication, biosafety standards and sustainability will be key to positioning Brazil as a reliable, high‑quality supplier of animal protein worldwide.
