Brazil appoints new judges to Minas Gerais and Federal District courts

The Tribunal de Justiça de Minas Gerais (TJMG) installed Desembargadora Maria Luiza Santana Assunção as ouvidora and Desembargadora Ivone Campos Guilarducci Cerqueira as ouvidora‑adjunta for the 2026‑2028 term. The ceremony was led by President Vicente de Oliveira Silva, who highlighted the Ouvidoria’s role in handling over 20,000 public requests and complaints in the previous biennium.

In the Federal District, the Tribunal de Justiça do Distrito Federal e dos Territórios (TJDFT) swore in Selma Sauerbronn as desembargadora on 5 August, filling the vacancy left by the death of Desembargador Maurício Silva Miranda. She will serve on the 3ª Turma Cível and the 1ª Câmara Cível. The ceremony featured remarks from President Jair Soares and other officials, noting Sauerbronn’s 35‑year career in the Ministério Público and her work on human‑rights and youth protection.
