Brazil approves Rota Agro Central highway concession auction
The Brazilian Federal Court of Accounts (TCU) has unanimously approved the continuation of the Rota Agro Central concession process. This project covers 887.6 kilometers of highways, specifically BR-070, BR-174, and BR-364, spanning the states of Mato Grosso and Rondônia.
The approval follows an eight-month suspension intended to re-evaluate the concession model to better integrate road logistics with regional railway influences. With this institutional obstacle removed, the federal government is expected to hold the auction in December 2026.
In a related development, the Ministry of Transport is launching the concession edict for the BR-060, known as Rota do Pequi, which connects Goiânia to Brasília. The Ministry aims to consolidate a significant portfolio of concessions, with several other auctions, including the Rota 2 de Julho, planned for the end of the year despite a tightened schedule due to the upcoming general elections.
