Businessman Thiago Brennand sentenced to 31 years for rape
A São Paulo court sentenced businessman Thiago Brennand to 31 years, 5 months and 24 days in a closed‑regime prison for rape and related offenses against his former partner. The 1st Vara of Porto Feliz ordered him to pay R$ 100 000 in compensation and convicted him of illegal coercion, bodily injury, rape, procedural coercion, dissemination of a rape scene and unauthorized sexual recording. The crimes occurred in 2021 and were first reported in 2022, following earlier publicized assaults captured on gym cameras. Brennand is currently detained at the Álvaro de Carvalho 2 penitentiary in Potim, interior São Paulo.
