Brazil arrests two men for child sexual abuse in Rio and Roraima

Police in Rio de Janeiro captured a man who had been convicted of raping his stepdaughter when she was seven years old. The suspect, who had fled after his 2011 conviction, was arrested in the Piedade neighborhood of the city's North Zone by agents of the 52nd Police District (Nova Iguaçu). He will serve an eight‑year, one‑month semi‑open sentence for sexual abuse of a vulnerable minor and related offenses, including exposing the child to pornography and threatening the victim and her mother.

In the northern state of Roraima, a 43‑year‑old man identified by his initials C.S.B was arrested in the indigenous Waromadá community of Uiramutã on charges of raping his 12‑year‑old niece, whom he allegedly abused repeatedly beginning when she was ten. The operation was coordinated by the state Civil Police, the Pacaraima Police Station, and the local Military Police. The suspect was presented at a custody hearing and placed in the prison system pending further investigation.
