Brazil bean prices fall as Cerrado harvest expands
Prices for Brazilian feijão-carioca (pinto bean) dropped sharply as the harvest in the Cerrado region increased market supply. The Cepea/CNA index recorded the price for premium bean at R$291.56 per 60‑kg sack in eastern Goiás, an 11% weekly decline, while in southern Paraná the price fell to R$208.59, a 0.74% weekly drop.
The surge in harvest volume led sellers to accelerate sales to meet liquidity needs, while buyers remained cautious, waiting for additional deliveries before expanding purchases. Black bean prices also softened amid slow demand, resulting in modest price oscillations.
Analysts at Cepea highlighted that the higher availability of beans is the primary driver of the price slide, with market participants monitoring upcoming crop entries for further adjustments.
