Brazilian agribusiness shows growth in beef exports amid commodity volatility

The Brazilian agribusiness sector is experiencing diverse market shifts across various commodities. Beef exports from Mato Grosso saw a 63.3% revenue increase in the first half of 2026, reaching 88 countries and generating US$ 2.4 billion. Similarly, Mato Grosso do Sul reported a 47.9% rise in beef export revenue, totaling US$ 1.17 billion. However, Abrafrigo warned that the exhaustion of Chinese quotas could challenge states like Pará, which have more restricted access to alternative markets.

Other sectors face different pressures. The pork industry in Santa Catarina is struggling with significant price drops, with some independent producers seeing a 44% decline in value. Chicken supply reached its highest quarterly level since late 2025, putting downward pressure on prices. In the dairy sector, producer prices rose by 33% in the first half of the year due to tighter supply.

Commodity markets also show volatility in grains and coffee. Corn prices have faced pressure due to export revisions, while Conab announced auctions to purchase 20,000 tons to bolster government stocks. Soybean prices remain strong at major ports, and coffee futures in New York saw significant declines, leading to reduced liquidity in the Brazilian physical market.
