Brazil boosts air cargo service as CMA CGM and Braspress launch new operations

CMA CGM Air Cargo, the cargo arm of the French logistics group, landed its first Boeing 777F at Viracopos International Airport in Campinas on 25 June, bringing 96 tonnes of e‑commerce cargo from Hong Kong and France. The aircraft returned the same day with 40 tonnes of fruit, and the carrier plans to operate twice‑weekly flights linking Hong Kong, Paris‑Charles de Gaulle and Viracopos from July.

Braspress Air Cargo announced that from 7 July it will add regular night flights to its existing daytime service, using a third Boeing 737‑400F to run the Campinas‑Manaus‑Campinas route. Director‑President Urubatan Helou said the night operation will “allow us to better use our integrated logistics structure, increasing productivity of the air network and offering even more speed to customers,” especially serving Brazil’s North and Northeast regions.

Both moves aim to expand Brazil’s air‑freight capacity, improve delivery times and strengthen the country’s position in global cargo logistics.
