Brazil boosts family farming with new tools and water‑storage projects

The municipal government of Várzea Grande in Mato Grosso delivered a rotary hoe and a bed‑former to 41 family farms, aiming to speed soil preparation, cut manual labor and raise productivity. Coordinators Leandro Silva and Ricardo Amorim highlighted the equipment’s role in improving efficiency, reducing costs and supporting sustainable rural development.

In Acre, State Agriculture Secretary Temyllis Silva visited the Ramal do Cachoeira community in the Transacreana region to oversee a hydraulic excavator operation under the Seagri‑run Programa de Açudagem. The program excavates and expands water‑storage tanks to mitigate severe droughts and promote fish farming, part of a three‑year effort to strengthen production and rural livelihoods across the state.
