Brazil boosts public health with mobile imaging unit in Campo Grande and pioneering cardiac procedure in Cuiabá

A mobile imaging unit dedicated to the public health system (SUS) began operating on July 29 in Campo Grande, Mato Grosso do Sul. The unit, stationed at the Esplanada Ferroviária until August 24, 2026, is expected to perform around 1,300 CT scans and additional ultrasound exams for patients on the national regulation queue, with appointments scheduled through SISREG and no walk‑in admissions.

In Cuiabá, Mato Grosso, Hospital Santa Rosa performed a pioneering cardiac procedure using the Makoto system, a high‑precision technology for detailed coronary artery assessment. The intervention, led by cardiologists Dr. Leandro C. Mandaloufas and Dr. Nelson Artur dos Reis, aims to improve diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disease, a leading cause of death in the state with roughly 6,000 annual fatalities.
