Overview

In late July 2026, the municipal health secretariat of Campo Grande, alongside Brazil’s Ministry of Health, launched a mobile diagnostic imaging unit at the Esplanada Ferroviária. In Cuiabá, Hospital Santa Rosa performed a pioneering cardiac procedure using the Makoto high-precision system, led by cardiologists Dr Leandro C. Mandaloufas and Dr Nelson Artur dos Reis, to improve coronary artery assessment in a state with approximately 6,000 annual cardiovascular deaths. Animal welfare and zoonosis prevention efforts have expanded significantly. Following the launch of a mobile veterinary clinic by the Superintendência de Bem-Estar Animal (SUBEA) in August, rabies vaccination campaigns have intensified. In Paraíba, the State Health Department (SES-PB) launched a ‘Dia D’ mobilization across 223 municipalities, aiming to immunize over 820,000 animals. By late August, campaigns were active in Salvador, with mobile units in Cajazeiras and Cabula/Beiru, and in Cruzeiro do Sul, targeting 18,000 animals. In Rio Branco, authorities have implemented door-to-door strategies. By early September, vaccination efforts continued in Petrolina, Pernambuco, targeting rural communities through 11 September.
