Brazil Boosts Regional Security Cooperation with INTERPOL and Latin Partners

At a summit in Brasília, the Inter‑American Development Bank and INTERPOL announced a partnership through the Alliance for Security, Justice, and Development’s Rapid Response Task Force. A pilot will be run in Brazil with an initial $100,000 technical assistance package, aiming to extend expertise and operational support to countries across Latin America and the Caribbean.

The same week, Brazil’s Federal Highway Police hosted delegations from Chile, Paraguay and Panama to demonstrate the Alerta Brasil system – a network of cameras and license‑plate readers that provides real‑time monitoring and intelligence to combat transnational crime such as drug trafficking, vehicle theft and smuggling. The meeting underscored Brazil’s role in promoting technology‑driven security collaboration throughout the region.
