Brazil: BPC payment schedule and STF health plan ruling

Beneficiaries of the Continuous Cash Benefit (BPC) in Brazil should consult the INSS calendar for October 2026 payments. The schedule is organized by the final digit of the benefit card, with payments for those ending in 1 through 5 scheduled between October 26 and October 30. The benefit, which provides one minimum wage (R$ 1,621) to elderly individuals aged 65 or older and people with disabilities, can be monitored via the 'Meu INSS' app or website.

Separately, the Brazilian Supreme Federal Court (STF) has referred ADC 90 to its consensus solution center (Nusol). The case examines whether the Statute of the Elderly, which prohibits age-based price discrimination in health insurance, applies to contracts signed before the law's enactment in 2004. While the rapporteur, Minister Dias Toffoli, voted that the rule does not apply to pre-2004 contracts, other ministers have proposed variations regarding how the rule applies to consumers who reach age 60 after the law's implementation.
