Brazil Catholic Church hosts synod live series and vocational month opening

On Tuesday, 4 August 2026, the Brazilian Catholic Church streamed the first live episode of the series “Diretrizes e Sínodo: três conversões”. The program, organized by the National Synod Animation Team, was moderated by Padre Júlio César Evangelista Resende and featured Padre Douglas Alves Fontes of the Archdiocese of Niterói and auxiliary Bishop Dom Jânison de Sá Santos of Fortaleza. The discussion focused on the synod’s proposed “conversion of relations”, “conversion of processes” and “conversion of bonds” outlined in the Final Document of the 2021‑2024 Synod and the 2026‑2032 General Guidelines for Evangelization in Brazil.

Two days earlier, on 2 August, the Diocese of Caxias do Sul inaugurated the 2026 Vocational Month. Over 200 participants walked a rosary route, attended a formation session led by Padre Leonardo Inácio Pereira on the synodal dynamics of vocation, and concluded with a Mass celebrated by Bishop Dom José Gislon. The event was coordinated by the diocesan Vocational Animation Service and other Catholic bodies.
