Brazil cattle market sees rising beef prices and record exchange ratios

The Brazilian cattle market is experiencing significant regional variations and price shifts in August 2026. In Acre, severe drought conditions have contributed to a rise in beef prices, with some cuts like chuck increasing by over 28% since the start of the year. Additionally, the state faces economic challenges due to the outflow of approximately 370,000 cattle annually, which some reports suggest may involve tax evasion through simulated transfers between properties.

In Pará, beef prices have risen by 13% over the last 12 months, significantly outpacing general inflation. Meanwhile, the replacement market for female cattle shows high regional disparity, with Paraná recording the highest prices and Acre and Roraima the lowest.

On a broader scale, the exchange ratio of beef arrobas per calf has reached a record high for the month of August, with an average of 9.69 arrobas required to purchase one calf. In the financial markets, B3 futures contracts for October 2026 have shown signs of recovery, though the physical market has seen more direct price increases in recent weeks. Overall, the sector is characterized by a tight supply of finished animals and fluctuating expectations between physical and future markets.
