Brazil municipalities launch widespread rabies vaccination campaigns
Multiple municipalities across Brazil are conducting extensive rabies vaccination campaigns for dogs and cats to prevent the spread of the virus to humans and animals.
In Goiânia, over 140 vaccination points are operating to provide free immunization. Similarly, Rio de Janeiro has deployed 141 posts across its North and Southwest zones. In Manaus, the campaign includes both fixed locations and door-to-door visits in urban and rural areas. Other cities, including Natal, João Pessoa, Rio Verde, and Niterói, are also implementing localized vaccination drives and mobile units to increase coverage.
In addition to rabies shots, some municipal programs, such as those in Três Lagoas and Parauapebas, are offering complementary services including spaying, neutering, microchipping, and veterinary consultations to promote responsible pet ownership and population control.
