Brazil climbs into Portugal's top‑5 source markets as Latin America premium travel jumps 22%
Brazil has moved into the top five markets sending passengers to Portugal, with 737,400 arrivals recorded between January and May 2026 – a 17.9% increase over the same period a year earlier. The surge pushed Brazil ahead of Italy, while the United Kingdom retained its position as the leading source market.
IATA’s World Air Transport Statistics show that premium‑class travel in Latin America rose 22.1% in 2025, reaching four million international passengers – the strongest regional growth worldwide. The premium segment accounted for 5.5% of all international travelers, with the region’s busiest route being Bogotá‑Medellín.
