Brazil coffee arabica prices climb as rains delay harvest

Heavy rains that began on June 10 in Brazil's main arabica‑growing areas – South Minas Gerais, the Mogiana Paulista region and the Cerrado Mineiro – halted field work and reduced the pace of the 2026/27 harvest. The short‑term supply pinch lifted arabica prices by roughly 2 %‑4 % across major exchanges, reversing earlier June declines.

Researchers at Cepea note that, despite an officially projected record‑size crop, the wet conditions are harming bean size and increasing defect rates, raising concerns about overall quality. The market is therefore pricing both the reduced immediate supply and the risk of lower‑quality beans. By contrast, robusta prices remain firm, driven by expectations of a smaller-than‑previous harvest and steady demand from Asian soluble‑coffee buyers.
