Brazil Congress reviews credit lines for professional motorcyclists

The Brazilian Congress is reviewing a final report for Provisional Measure (MP) 1.366/2026, which aims to establish a specific credit line for professional motorcyclists. The measure targets workers in passenger transport and app-based delivery services, as well as those with formal employment in the sector.

If the report by Deputy Amanda Gentil is approved by the joint commission, it will proceed to the Plenary of the Chamber of Deputies and then to the Senate. The initiative is part of a broader federal government program that includes financing for app drivers, taxi drivers, truckers, and rural producers.

Funding would be sourced from the Social Infrastructure Investment Fund (Fiis) and could be used for purchasing or renewing vehicles, including domestic motorcycles up to 160cc and electric bicycles produced in Brazil. To qualify, app-based workers must have been registered on platforms for at least six months and completed a minimum of 100 trips or deliveries.
