Brazil cotton production forecasts revised upward to 4.27 million tons
The National Association of Cotton Exporters (Anea) has increased its production estimates for the 2025/2026 harvest to 4.271 million tons of lint, a 2.2% increase from previous projections. This revision is attributed to higher-than-expected yields during the harvest period.
Anea also raised its forecast for the 2026/2027 season to 4.267 million tons, up 5.9% from earlier estimates. This suggests Brazil could see two consecutive harvests exceeding 4.2 million tons. Despite the increased production, the association slightly lowered its export projection for the second half of 2026 to 1.578 million tons.
Association president Dawid Wajs noted that while productivity exceeded expectations, the entity continues to monitor climate risks, specifically the potential for intense El Niño episodes that could impact future production conditions.
