Brazil court blocks Pix keys to recover R$ 4.5 million debt
A court in São Bernardo do Campo, Brazil, has issued an unprecedented ruling to block the Pix keys of a company and four partners in an attempt to collect a debt exceeding R$ 4.5 million. The legal action follows a nearly 15-year effort to locate assets belonging to the debtors, stemming from a 2005 lawsuit regarding a fatal accident.
In addition to blocking Pix keys, Judge Gustavo Dall Olio ordered the registration of the debtors in credit protection services and the seizure of cryptocurrencies. Legal experts note that while such atypical executive measures are supported by the Code of Civil Procedure to prevent the concealment of assets, they should remain exceptional cases involving proven fraud or the exhaustion of traditional collection methods.
