Brazil courts impose new rules on digital platforms for child influencers and animal‑cruelty videos

In June 2026 the Brazilian National Council of Justice approved a resolution requiring judges to issue individual authorisation orders (alvará) for children and adolescents who appear in monetised digital content. The measure, known as the ECA Digital, targets family‑run channels and commercial campaigns that use minors for advertising, aiming to protect the physical, psychological and moral development of the child.

A separate ruling from the Ceará State Environmental Court ordered major platforms such as TikTok, Google, Reddit, Twitch, Discord, Telegram and 4chan to immediately remove any material that promotes, encourages or depicts animal cruelty. The judge also mandated a detailed plan within 15 days to implement technical safeguards that prevent new uploads of such content, with daily fines of R$1,000 for non‑compliance.

Both decisions expand the legal responsibilities of online services in Brazil, reinforcing judicial oversight over harmful or exploitative content and signalling a broader push to regulate digital spaces.
