Brazil rolls out mobile vet clinics and free animal castration programs

The municipal Secretariat of Environment, Protection and Animal Welfare (Sema) will operate a Mobile Veterinary Clinic in the Jardim Carandá neighbourhood of Sorocaba, São Paulo, from 15 to 19 June. The unit will provide preventive consultations, clinical evaluations and guidance for dog and cat owners between 09:00‑14:00.

In Paraíso das Águas, Mato Grosso do Sul, the 2026 Castration Caravan opens registrations on 10 June, offering 160 free sterilizations for dogs and cats on 1‑2 July, together with micro‑chip implantation, post‑operative medication and recovery advice.

Lavrinhas, São Paulo, will host a free Castration Truck on 13 June, delivering surgical sterilization for mixed‑breed dogs and cats, along with public education on responsible pet ownership.

Manicoré, Amazonas, receives a Castramóvel on 10‑11 June, providing 300 free sterilizations and vaccination doses for dogs and cats. Appointments are booked through the “Meu Pet Amazonas” application, with additional walk‑in slots available.

These initiatives aim to decentralise veterinary services, improve animal health, control stray‑animal populations and promote responsible ownership across diverse Brazilian municipalities.
