Brazil discusses early childhood development policies

The Brazilian Ministry of Education (MEC) recently held a discussion regarding the Legal Framework for Early Childhood and the National Integrated Early Childhood Policy (Pnipi). The debate focused on the decade following the approval of Law No. 13.257/2016 and the implementation of Decree No. 12.574/2025, which coordinates strategic actions across five ministries to integrate health, education, social assistance, human rights, and information management.

In the municipality of Cachoeirinha, the local City Council hosted the first seminar for the 'Primeira Infância Melhor' (PIM) program to mark its sixth year of local operation. PIM is a public policy from the Government of Rio Grande do Sul designed to support pregnant women and children aged zero to six, specifically targeting families in social vulnerability through weekly home and community visits to promote motor, cognitive, and social development.
