Brazil faces industrial investment decline and regional economic slowdown
Brazil is experiencing varied economic shifts across its industrial and regional sectors. According to the Central Bank, economic activity fell in four of the five regions in July compared to June, with the Northeast seeing the largest decline at 1.7%. Only the Southeast recorded growth during that period.
Industrial investment intentions have declined for the fourth consecutive month, reaching their lowest level since August 2020. The National Confederation of Industry (CNI) attributes this to slowing industrial activity and economic uncertainty. The construction sector is also facing significant challenges, with both activity levels and employment numbers retreating due to high interest rates and upcoming elections.
In the dairy sector of Rio Grande do Sul, milk production grew by 2.38% in 2025, but small and medium-sized industries are facing intense pressure from imports. The Association of Small and Medium Dairy Industries (Apil) reports that products from Argentina and Uruguay, which hold approximately 8% of the market, are entering with lower costs, impacting local competitiveness and pricing dynamics.
