Brazil economic experts discuss global geoeconomic opportunities

Economic leaders and experts recently met in Brazil to discuss the nation's position within a shifting global geoeconomic landscape.

At a Fisesp event, economist Daniella Marques highlighted the need for improved legal certainty, regulatory simplification, and increased competitiveness to drive productivity. Marques noted that while Brazil possesses significant potential due to its territory, energy availability, and strategic minerals, the country must prioritize investments in technological infrastructure and data centers to advance.

During a panel at the 23rd Secovi-SP Convention, economist and diplomat Marcos Troyjo analyzed how the reconfiguration of the world economic order creates both challenges and opportunities. Troyjo suggested that while global shifts may negatively impact the majority of nations, Brazil is among a small group of “geopolitical swing states” positioned to extract advantages. He specifically noted that China's potential economic inward turn could lead to increased food purchases from Brazil rather than traditional suppliers in the US, Europe, or Oceania.
