Brazil election results: Tarcísio de Freitas reelected in São Paulo
Tarcísio de Freitas of the Republicanos party has been reelected as Governor of São Paulo in the first round, securing 62.8% of the valid votes. His opponent, Fernando Haddad of the Workers' Party (PT), received 36.22%. In his victory speech, de Freitas emphasized his commitment to continuing his administration's work, citing achievements such as infrastructure projects and addressing social issues like the 'cracolândia'. He noted that his victory represents a significant mandate and a consensus-based project for the state.
In Minas Gerais, outgoing Governor Mateus Simões (PSD) expressed respect for the electoral results following the victory of Cleitinho in the first round. Simões, who assumed office following Zema's departure, pledged an exemplary and transparent transition of power over the next three months. The election results in the region also saw several candidates, including federal deputy Mario Heringer and state deputy Bosco, fail to secure reelection due to party electoral coefficients and seat distributions.
