Pablo Marçal: TSE unanimously rejects presidential candidacy
The Superior Electoral Court (TSE) has unanimously rejected the presidential candidacy of Pablo Marçal (PRTB). The decision, reached by all seven ministers, effectively bars the influencer from the 2026 election.
Relator Estela Aranha's vote, which was followed by the entire court, cited two primary legal obstacles. First, Marçal is currently ineligible to hold public office until 2032 due to a prior conviction by the São Paulo Electoral Court. This conviction stems from irregularities during the 2024 municipal elections, specifically involving the offering of video recordings to candidates in exchange for financial donations.
Second, the court found that Marçal failed to meet the legal requirements for party affiliation. The Ministry of Public Prosecution argued that Marçal did not successfully transition to the PRTB within the mandatory legal window, as he remained affiliated with União Brasil during the April deadline. Consequently, both Marçal's individual registration request and the PRTB's request to register him were denied.
