Brazil electoral courts prepare voting machines for second round
Regional Electoral Courts in Bahia and Goiás have begun the technical preparation of electronic voting machines for the second round of the 2026 General Elections.
In Bahia, the TRE-BA is scheduled to start the media generation process on Tuesday, October 13. This procedure involves recording the systems and data necessary for the machines to function, including candidate information for the second round. The process is subject to auditing by the Public Prosecutor's Office, the Brazilian Bar Association (OAB), and political parties to ensure transparency. Following media generation, the machines will undergo data migration, self-testing, and sealing.
In Goiás, the TRE-GO initiated its media generation process on Saturday, October 10. This stage involves recording data such as electoral section information, voter lists, and candidate details onto storage devices. These devices are subsequently stored in numbered, sealed envelopes to maintain integrity. The second round of the elections is scheduled for October 25.
