Brazil 2026 Elections: TSE issues voting guidelines and e-Título updates

As the 2026 general elections approach, the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) has issued several guidelines for voters in Brazil and abroad. Key updates include the ability to download and activate the e-Título app even on the days of voting, a change from previous years when the service was suspended to prevent system overload. However, the TSE warns that the e-Título service itself will be suspended during the actual voting hours to ensure stability, and voters must have completed their registration by October 3 to use the digital version as identification.

To ensure a smooth process, the TSE strongly recommends that voters check their polling locations in advance, as many sections have changed due to logistics or security reasons. For those unable to vote, justifications can be made via the app on election day or within 60 days following each round. Additionally, the e-Título can serve as proof of life for INSS beneficiaries.

Strict rules regarding conduct are in place: electronic devices, including cell phones, are prohibited inside voting booths to protect secrecy and prevent vote buying. In certain regions like Piauí, the sale and purchase of alcoholic beverages are prohibited during the election period to maintain public order. Meanwhile, regional bodies like the Public Ministry of Amazonas have established specialized units to support electoral operations.
