Brazil electoral updates: propaganda rules and polling changes

In preparation for the 2026 elections in Brazil, electoral authorities in Ubatuba and Limeira have issued specific guidelines and updates for voters.

In Ubatuba, the Electoral Registry has clarified rules regarding campaign propaganda in public spaces. While propaganda is permitted on public roads, it must not obstruct pedestrian traffic or interfere with vehicle movement. Materials are strictly prohibited on beach sands, in the middle of squares, or on sidewalks. The Municipal Civil Guard noted that they require formal requests from the Electoral Registry to take action against irregularities. Citizens can report violations using the Pardal app, which allows for the submission of photos, videos, and audio. If an irregularity is confirmed, the responsible party has 48 hours to remove the material or face potential fines and legal representation.

In Limeira, the Electoral Justice system has announced several changes to polling locations. Permanent changes affect voters from Colégio Acadêmico, São Benedito, and São José, with sections being transferred to Ceief Prof. ª Jamile Caram de Souza Dias and Colégio Jandyra to improve accessibility. Temporary changes have been implemented due to fires and construction at Emeief Prada, Emeief Prof. ª Flora de Castro Rodrigues, and EE Prof. Margarida Paroli Soares. Voters from these locations will be redirected to Colégio Portal de Limeira or Emeief Padre Maurício Sebastião Ferreira.
