Brazil emerges as strategic market for olive oil and coffee

Brazil is establishing itself as a significant player in both the olive oil and coffee sectors. The International Olive Council (IOC) has launched a promotional campaign in Brazil to capitalize on the country's growing demand and emerging domestic production. During the 2024/25 campaign, Brazil imported over 80,000 tons of olive oil, signaling its role as a major global destination for exports. While current per capita consumption is low at approximately 0.4 kg, there is significant potential for growth.

In the coffee sector, Brazil's 2027/28 harvest shows a favorable start with strong flowering and positive weather conditions. However, climate risks such as potential heatwaves linked to El Niño remain a concern for producers, particularly in Conilon regions. Recent data shows Brazilian green coffee exports rose to 3.58 million bags in September, a 3.2% increase compared to the previous year. Market analysts note that a stronger Brazilian real and low global inventories continue to influence price volatility.
