Brazil Enacts Law to Boost Export Credit Insurance

Brazil’s Federal Government sanctioned Law No. 15.359/2026 in March, modernising the country's Official Support System for export credit. The legislation updates the legal framework for financing, insurance and guarantees on exports, allowing private insurers and financiers to act as indirect operators of official credit support.

The change aims to lessen reliance on public solutions, widen access to export‑credit insurance and strengthen the competitiveness of Brazilian firms abroad. Genebra Seguros CEO Guilherme Silveira said the law mitigates payment‑default risk, encourages companies of all sizes to enter new markets and improves the assessment of receivables by banks. Brazil recorded a historic $349 billion in exports in 2025, underscoring the policy’s relevance.
