Brazil energy auction awards R$ 8.9 billion in transmission projects
The Brazilian federal government, organized by the National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel), has concluded an energy transmission auction at the B3 stock exchange. The auction awarded eight lots to five companies, with total investments projected to reach R$ 8.9 billion. The projects involve the implementation of 1,866 kilometers of new transmission lines and sections across seven states: Bahia, Goiás, Mato Grosso do Sul, Paraíba, Paraná, Rondônia, and São Paulo.
Major winners include Neoenergia, Celeo Redes, and the construction firm Cymi, which each secured two projects. Spanish-capital groups dominated the bidding, including EDP, which secured a lot involving projects in Goiás and Bahia. The contracts are set for a 30-year duration, with construction timelines ranging from 42 to 60 months.
In Goiás, specifically, R$ 349.5 million will be invested to strengthen the electrical infrastructure. This includes R$ 316.9 million for new structures in the northeast of the state, awarded to EDP Transmissão Goiás S.A., and R$ 32.6 million for local distribution network improvements. These works are expected to generate hundreds of jobs and support economic expansion in the region.
