Brazil ethanol beats gasoline in price competitiveness across ten states

A nationwide survey by Brazil's National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP) found ethanol more competitive than gasoline in nine states and the Federal District for the week of 28 June–4 July, with an average parity of 61.70 %. The biofuel led in Acre (70 %), Bahia (69.2 %), Distrito Federal (63.46 %), Goiás (64.42 %), Mato Grosso (55.15 %), Mato Grosso do Sul (61.09 %), Minas Gerais (65.65 %), Paraná (62.59 %), Santa Catarina (68.99 %) and São Paulo (58.88 %). Average ethanol price fell 0.49 % to R$ 4.06 / L, with the lowest price of R$ 2.96 / L in São Paulo and the highest of R$ 6.59 / L in Pernambuco.

A separate consumer‑protection study in Anápolis (Goiás) reported price variations of up to 15.67 % among 22 fuel stations between 6 and 10 July. Diesel showed the widest spread (R$ 5.87‑6.79 / L), followed by S‑10 diesel (13.55 % variation) and ethanol (5.01 %). Gasoline’s price fluctuations were smaller, with additive gasoline varying 4.51 % and common gasoline 2.80 %. The study also noted higher prices for credit‑card payments at some stations.
