Brazil ethanol prices fall to R$ 3.91 per liter average

According to data from the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP) for the period of August 9 to 15, the average price of hydrated ethanol in Brazil fell by 0.76%, dropping from R$ 3.94 to R$ 3.91 per liter.

Price fluctuations varied by region: prices decreased in 22 states, rose in two states and the Federal District, and remained stable in Roraima. In São Paulo, the primary producer and consumer, the average price fell by 0.55% to R$ 3.61 per liter. The most significant decline occurred in Minas Gerais, where prices dropped by 4.31% to R$ 3.77 per liter.

Regarding competitiveness against gasoline, ethanol was more economical in 10 states and the Federal District. The national average parity for ethanol relative to gasoline was 59.88%. While industry executives note ethanol can remain competitive even at parity levels above 70% depending on the vehicle, the standard economic threshold for advantage is typically set at 70% of the gasoline price.
