Brazil expands Education for Youth and Adults initiatives
The municipal Education Secretaries of Teixeira de Freitas, Bahia and Branquinha, Alagoas, opened new Education for Youth and Adults (EJA) programmes. In Teixeira de Freitas, the Jornada Pedagógica marked the start of the 2026‑2 semester with teachers, coordinators and managers gathering to plan, under the theme “Planejar hoje para transformar amanhã”. Speakers highlighted the role of EJA in inclusion and the right to education.
In Branquinha, the Instituto Superar launched its EJA Professionalizante project, linking basic education completion with job‑skill training. Institute president Flávio Ferreira said, “O nosso compromisso é abrir portas e mostrar que nunca é tarde para recomeçar,” emphasizing the program’s aim to create new professional pathways for adult learners.
Both initiatives aim to strengthen continuous teacher training, promote equity, and improve employment prospects for adult students across Brazil.
