Brazil expands electric scooter sharing with tests in Campo Grande and service launch in Curitiba

The municipal transport agency of Campo Grande (Agetran) inaugurated a test phase for shared electric scooters operated by JET on 7 May. The trial will assess system performance, user behavior and integration with existing cycling infrastructure, with the agency monitoring fleet operation, safety compliance and data reporting before a permanent rollout.

In Curitiba, the dockless scooter service by Go Jet began operations on 4 May, offering 1,000 scooters across several neighborhoods. Users unlock scooters via a mobile app, paying a R$ 0.99 activation fee and R$ 0.39 per minute, with various minute‑pack options and a R$ 9.99 monthly subscription that provides free unlocks and discounts. The service enforces speed limits of 20 km/h, age restrictions (18+), and prohibits carrying passengers or cargo. Operations are overseen by the city’s Urbs department.

Both cities are evaluating the micromobility model as a new urban mobility alternative, with regulatory frameworks and monitoring mechanisms in place to ensure safety and proper use.
