Brazil expands Enem 2026 special support for anxiety, OCD and ADHD

The National Institute for Educational Studies and Research (Inep) has added new conditions for specialized assistance in the 2026 edition of Brazil's National High School Exam (Enem). Candidates diagnosed with anxiety crises, Obsessive‑Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Attention‑Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and fibromyalgia may request support, including an accompanying person in a reserved room monitored by staff. All requests must be submitted during registration on the Participant Page and be accompanied by medical documentation; approval is required before accommodations are provided.

Approved candidates can also use a range of accessibility resources such as guide or emotional‑support dogs, Braille typewriters, hearing aids, special glasses, large‑print pens, and other assistive devices, all of which will be inspected by exam supervisors. Lactating participants receive similar companion arrangements. The change follows a sharp rise in accessibility requests: in 2025, about 165,000 resources were authorized for more than 116,000 candidates, and the number of participants receiving specialized assistance grew 191% from 2022 (30,856) to 2025 (89,770).
