Brazil expands free cancer screenings: mobile mammography in São Bernardo and July Green head‑neck campaign
A mobile mammography unit operated by the São Bernardo municipal health department will provide free breast‑cancer screening for women aged 40 to 74 from July 20‑24 at Praça da Matriz and on July 27‑28 at UBS Vila Marchi. No appointment or referral is required; patients must present ID and SUS card, and up to 64 exams are performed daily between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
On July 25, the July Green campaign in Ribeirão Preto will offer free public education on head‑and‑neck cancer at the Praça XV de Novembro. Organized by the USP Faculty of Medicine, the Faepa foundation and the Hospital das Clínicas, the event will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., highlighting early‑detection signs, risk factors such as tobacco and alcohol use, and the importance of timely diagnosis.
