Brazil expands free‑flow toll system with auto‑payment for motorcycles and 200‑day grace period

ConectCar has begun testing an automatic payment solution for motorcycles on Brazil’s free‑flow toll highways. Dubbed ConectCar Free Flow Moto, the MVP‑stage service registers a bike’s license plate, detects passage through toll gantries, and deducts the fee from the user’s ConectCar account. The pilot will initially run on selected CCR‑managed stretches such as Rio SP, Caminhos da Serra Gaúcha and EPR Sul Minas.

Separately, CONTRAN’s deliberation 277/2026 established a 200‑day transition period that lets drivers without a toll tag locate and settle pending tolls before penalties resume. During the transition, missed payments do not trigger evas‑ion fines, points, or process deadlines, but the underlying charges remain due to the concessionaires. Motorists can query unpaid passages using their vehicle’s plate and must pay before the period ends to avoid future enforcement.

Both initiatives aim to simplify electronic toll compliance and reduce violations as Brazil’s free‑flow model expands across more than 19 highways.
