Brazil agribusiness reports growth in food, feed, and fruit exports

Brazil's agribusiness and food sectors are showing varied performance across different commodities. The industrial biscuit, pasta, bread, and cake sector generated R$ 36 billion in the first half of 2026, a 2.1% revenue increase, though sales volume fell by 2.1%.

In the animal feed industry, production reached 22.6 million tons in the first quarter of 2026, up 5.4% year-over-year, driven by the poultry and swine chains. Meanwhile, the sugar sector faces shifting strategies; while sugarcane production is expected to grow by 4.7% in the 2026/27 harvest, sugar production may decline, leading mills to prioritize ethanol production. This comes amid global projections from Czarnikow of a potential 2.9 million metric ton sugar deficit by the 2027/28 season.

Export trends show significant movement in specific areas. Coffee green bean exports in August surpassed the total volume of August 2025, and Brazilian wine exports rose 23.7% in the first half of 2026. Additionally, the fruit sector saw a 20% growth in exports during the first half of 2026, highlighted by the first zero-tariff grape shipments to the European Union under the Mercosul-EU agreement. In logistics, air cargo exports grew by 43% in the first quarter of 2026, as companies increasingly adopt ultra-express logistics for B2B efficiency.
