Brazil expands gas assistance program for low‑income families

The Caixa Econômica Federal‑run "Gás do Povo" program distributes gas‑refill vouchers to families registered in the CadÚnico system. Deliveries occur on the 10th of each month from July through December 2026. Eligible households must have at least two members, a per‑capita income of up to half a minimum wage, an up‑to‑date CadÚnico record for the past 24 months and no CPF irregularities. Families of two or three members receive four annual refills, while those with four or more receive six.

Separately, the Auxílio‑Gás 2025 cash benefit is paid bimonthly in February, April, June, August, October and December. Payments are based on the final digit of the beneficiary’s NIS and range from the average price of a 13 kg cylinder (about R$ 100) up to R$ 600 for retroactive or supplemental amounts in cases of price spikes or emergencies. The same CadÚnico eligibility criteria apply, allowing families that also receive Bolsa Família to stack benefits.
