Brazil expands gun permits for professions, equips police with new firearms
The Brazilian Congress has approved proposals in parliamentary committees to allow members of several high‑risk occupations to obtain permits to carry firearms. The professions cited include lawyers, real‑estate brokers, traffic agents, environmental inspectors, private security guards and veterinarians, with a separate draft for consumer‑protection officials. The measures are still pending full legislative passage and do not yet change the current disarmament law.
In the state of Acre, the Civil Police received 35 Glock pistols for investigators in Feijó and a new patrol vehicle for the Manoel Urbano precinct. The delivery, announced by Police Chief Pedro Buzolin, is part of a broader effort to modernise equipment and improve operational efficiency and safety for police officers in the region.
