Brazil expands initiatives for women's employment and civic participation

The Fundação de Ação Social (FAS) held a hospitality‑sector employment workshop on 3 July 2026 in Curitiba, bringing together 50 women from five regional centers. Partnering with hotel‑service firm B2B, the event featured owner Cris Vicentini, who highlighted the city's 117 hotels and 100 current vacancies and guided participants on accessing B2B’s training platform. The women, part of the FAS para Elas program that serves 299 women aged 16‑70 across 39 social assistance centers, will later visit B2B hotels for technical tours.

On the same day, Brazil’s Ministry of Women launched the National Forum for Protagonism and Mobilization of Elderly Women, a virtual space intended to strengthen networks, facilitate experience‑sharing and increase elderly women’s influence over public policies. Minister Márcia Lopes and PT secretary Mazé Morais stressed the forum’s role in promoting dignified, autonomous ageing. The forum addresses a demographic of 17.9 million elderly women, who represent 55.7 % of the country’s senior population, and seeks to make their voices permanent actors in policy design.
