Brazil expands military and industrial strategic capabilities
The Brazilian Navy has established the Command of the Landing Craft Group (ComGptED) in Niterói. Subordinated to the Naval Operations Command, this new structure is designed to organize ship-to-shore movements, facilitating the transport of troops and equipment between vessels and coastal areas during amphibious operations.
In addition to organizational changes, the Navy is developing an indigenous platform utilizing artificial intelligence to centralize maritime data. This system aims to improve strategic monitoring, expedite search and rescue operations, and detect environmental accidents by integrating previously decentralized information.
On the industrial front, the Brazilian Army is negotiating with BAE Systems to secure a license for the domestic production of L119 Light Gun 105 mm howitzers. Recent technical meetings focused on evaluating manufacturing capabilities at the Rio de Janeiro War Arsenal to strengthen national artillery production.
In the resource sector, South Atlantic Potash is investigating offshore silvinite deposits in the Sergipe-Alagoas Basin. The project, supported by Desenvolve-SE, could potentially attract over R$ 5 billion in investment to the Northeast, aiming to reduce Brazil's dependence on imported potassium for fertilizer production.
