Brazil military and strategic development

Overview

Brazil is pursuing several initiatives to enhance its military and strategic capabilities. The Brazilian Navy has established the Command of the Landing Craft Group in Niterói to organize ship-to-shore movements and amphibious operations. Additionally, the Navy is developing an indigenous artificial intelligence platform to centralize maritime data for monitoring, search and rescue, and environmental accident detection.

On the industrial side, the Brazilian Army is in negotiations with BAE Systems to secure a license for the domestic production of L119 Light Gun 105 mm howitzers at the Rio de Janeiro War Arsenal.

In terms of regional cooperation, the Brazilian Senate approved a military cooperation agreement with Guyana. This agreement, which was previously suspended in 2020, aims to facilitate border actions, combat transnational crime, and promote joint military training and intelligence exchange.
