Brazil expands private government communication networks

The Brazilian federal government has entered the assisted operation phase for its private mobile network, a process expected to last approximately one year. This stage involves testing mobile services under real-world conditions to adjust performance, security, and stability before a full expansion. The infrastructure is designed to provide secure and resilient communications for critical public services, reducing reliance on commercial networks.

In parallel, the government is expanding its private fixed network, which aims to connect more than 40 strategic public administration buildings by October. This expansion includes new cities such as Vitória, Rio Branco, Macapá, and Goiânia. Targeted agencies include the National Institute of Social Security (INSS), the National Institute of Historic and Artistic Heritage (IPHAN), the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC), and the Ministry of Labor and Employment (MTE), among others.

The project is being developed as part of obligations related to the 5G auction, involving the 3.5 GHz Band Administrator (EAF) under the supervision of the Ministry of Communications and the National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel). The system utilizes a dedicated core and additional encryption to support security forces and emergency services.
