Brazil expands school funding with direct municipal transfers and national student incentive schedule

In Nova Lima, Brazil, the Municipal Direct Money to Schools program (PMDDE) created by councilor Pedro Dornas has allocated more than R$1.2 million this year to five public schools, aiming to reach about R$5 million for all municipal schools by year‑end. The law lets schools receive funds directly, cutting bureaucratic delays and enabling quick purchases of materials, repairs, equipment and project financing such as new computer and science labs.

Separately, the federal Ministry of Education has released the 2026 payment calendar for the Pé‑de‑Meia student incentive program. Payments will be made monthly according to a schedule spanning February to March 2026, with incentives ranging from R$200 for enrollment and attendance to up to R$1,000 for completing the school year and an additional R$200 for ENEM participation, allowing a student to accumulate as much as R$9,200.
