Brazil expands school restorative justice and youth legislative program
In Mato Grosso, the state judiciary and the Secretariat of Education certified 74 facilitators of restorative justice to operate in 67 public schools, reaching more than 93,000 students. The facilitators, psychologists and social assistants, completed a three‑module training program run by the Núcleo Gestor da Justiça Restaurativa (Nugjur) of the Mato Grosso Court of Justice. Justice Clarice Claudino da Silva said the initiative strengthens a growing public policy and transforms school conflict resolution.
In Fortaleza, four high‑school students from the Municipal Integrated Time School created legislative proposals under the Parla Jovem program, a civic‑education project of the city council and municipal education department. Their proposals address school accessibility with tactile flooring, provision of sensory‑regulation materials for mental‑health support, reduction of food waste and other learning‑environment barriers.
